Performance

The performance metrics show how well a wind turbine is performing as a percentage. To measure performance, the turbine must be compared to a reference value. In Greenbyte, performance metrics are based on a comparison to a power curve. A value larger than 100% means that the turbine is over performing. A value below 100% means that the turbine is underperforming.

There are two performance metrics available:

  • Production Factor – compares actual power to potential power at all timestamps

  • Performance Index – compares actual power to potential power for timestamps when the turbine is running

Both performance metrics are calculated as

where:

P is the performance

Pai is the actual power for a 10-minute period

Ppi is the potential power for a 10-minute period

n is the number of time periods.
