Capacity Factor

The capacity factor is the ratio of actual power output to rated power output. The rated power is the maximum power value of the default power curve.

Technology

Wind

Equation

For a single time step, the capacity factor is defined as:

where:

CF

is the capacity factor

Ee+

is energy export, clamped to the positive part

T

is the requested resolution in hours. If the time period extends into the future, the end time is capped at the current time.

Pr

is the rated power (maximum power value) from the default power curve

Usage Example

Analyze the average capacity factor per month and wind farms for the last year in a dashboard.
